Happy Turkey Day?

Blackwed1Well, friends, what kind of blogger would I be if I didn’t post the obligatory party pics? BFF and I decided to celebrate his birthday and Black Wednesday this year the night before Thanksgiving. We visited Trumps new hotel and bar, Rebar, had a great dinner at Bluewater Grill, and visited some other little bar/lounges – JBar (good place to get your drink on

inexpensively), Vertigo at Dana Hotel, and Martini Park. We had a great time…

…Until 7am on Thanksgiving where some kid and mother were yelling outside our door about going to the parade (that incidentally was half a block from our hotel). Then I became a little cranky. I mean, come on people, it’s 7am! Let’s think about this, people might be sleeping in the room you are screaming in front of. Eh, maybe I’m wrong and we were the only ones still asleep. Nah!

Thanksgiving itself was pretty good! Lots of food and family. We even talked to my cousin’s wife, whose in Romania for school, on the webcam.

I bet you’re wondering, did I get up and go shopping on Black Friday. I can feel you wanting to ask. SO, here ya go–sorta. Yoda woke me up at like 6 to go potty and I couldn’t fall back asleep, so I got dressed and headed out. It wasn’t my intention to get up early and go, but what else was I doing, right? I hit Kohl’s and by the time I was done there, I decided the cobbler would be open at the mall so I could pick up some shoes I had dropped off earlier in the week.

Of course, the cobbler is like the last place to open in the mall at 10, and I had no idea. So, I was there about 8:30 and decided to walk around. I hit all the major department stores, and everyone was being really friendly. Around 9:30 I decided to visit Bath and Body Works to pick up some gifts for friends, and wow!!! That line was crazy! But the store people seemed to have it under control. As I was in line, people started to get cranky!

I was the last person at the end of the snaking line, and I heard the sales girl who was in charge of that part of the line if the woman behind me was ready to check out. Here is what ensued:

Sales girl: Are you ready to check out?

Lady with stroller ramming it into the back of my legs: Don’t you see my stuff? Of course I’m ready to check out.

Sales girl: Ok, great! Can I have you come over here at the end of the line? (she was trying to make it curve around some displays)

Cranky Lady: What’s the difference?! I’m in line?

This is where it really turns ugly…

Lady in front of me: She’s just doing her job, you don’t have to be rude.

Cranky Lady: It’s none of your business! Turn around. (mumbles loud enough for everyone to hear) Why don’t you just mind your own business. I can say what I want.

Lady in front of me: Well, you don’t need to be rude about it!

Um, yeah, I’m stuck in between these two!

Cranky Lady: You should just turn around! It’s not any of your business…..(silence)….FATTY!

ME:(Horrified look on my face)

Lady in front of me: Now, that’s rude!

Yeah, I couldn’t get out of there fast enough! Little was my desire to be stuck in between these two people and meet any more cranky people.

Little of anything else really got done other than dinner with my friend and his girlfriend on Friday night. It was nice to hang out and not deal with people at the mall!  But, no knitting, either. I did some secret sewing that you’ll have to wait to see. OH, and reading! I’m almost done with the 3rd Twilight book! Crazy!

How was everyone else’s holiday weekend?

Wow, people are insane with the shopping! Sheesh. I had a great mall-free weekend. Jim and I went to see Twilight on Saturday night at the Hollywood Blvd theater and I highly recommend that place for seeing movies. Great drinks, even great food, which I didn’t expect. Totally civilized, as opposed to the usual movie experience.
