Everyone has a yarn

in Basic Chic Hoodie, Yarn

DebbieStollerYarn I was at Joann’s on an unrelated to knitting shopping trip and wandered past the yarn section. It is growing by leaps and bounds! All types of yarns are living at the Joann’s.

In fact, I saw these new “brands”:

  • Vickie Howell
  • Martha Stewart
  • Debbie Stoller
  • Vanna White
  • Deborah Norville

It seems that anyone can have a yarn line these days. I decided to try the Debbie Stoller Full ‘o Sheep yarn in turquoise. It’s 100% Peruvian wool and $5 for 155 yards. Not too bad (not too great), but definitely better than most of the yarns found at Joann’s. The Martha Stewart yarns had some yummy candy colors, but they were more expensive for what you are getting ($5.49 for 49 yards). I decided to try this ball out and see what happens. I might like it…

Wait. There is more.

You didn’t think I left the yarn department with only one random ball of yarn did you? The Patons yarn was all buy one, get one 50% off. So, I grabbed some tweedy brown Classic Wool. I love the Classic Wool! This is earmarked for another Chic Cardi. This time I’ll do a cable pattern instead of the lace.

That’s funny on the different “designer” yarns. $5.49 for 49 yards is crazy!
