Trick or Treat

Ghost_e0

I know, I know! I'm a little bit of a slacker this week...I've been busy getting ready for the best Halloween EVER! I've been putting my costume together and getting everything ready for the big night. Unfortunately, for the little kiddies in my neighborhood, Yoda is not getting dressed up and handing out candy. They get to enjoy that in years that Halloween falls not on a weekend! Tonight I'm a partying fool, er, vampire! Of course pictures to come of the costume...

I have been knitting, though, friends. I don't have pictures, though. All you get is the Ghosty. I've completed a couple washcloths for my cousin whose gonna let Yodster out tomorrow morning, almost finished another part of the Christmas Sets, and almost have a sleeve done on the Chic Hoodie. I say that's pretty good for a week's progress, no?

Have fun tonight everyone and stay safe!

Help?! Anyone?

So, I've become obsessed with a pattern on Ravelry - Gedifra Highlights 033 Model 509. Um, yeah, I want to make that. Here is the problem: the pattern book is not available ANYWHERE that I have been able to find. I can't even find the official picture to use in this post!  I've Googled, Yahoo!ed, stalked online yarn retailers...I've even poured over every cable collection I have at home looking for the two cables so I could do it myself. I've not figured out which cables are used...sigh.

So, here is my plea--if someone has this pattern, please, please, please let me borrow it or buy it off you. I just want the cable chart. Or if you know where I can get it, send that info my way. I'm begging, and boy it's not pretty.

Scrub a dub dub

My grandma puts on a craft show every year at her church. This year my cousin saw some knitted dish clothes and asked me if I could make her some. Since she's going to be helping me out with Yoda a little later in the year, I figured it's a good trade-off.

I asked her what colors I should use, and she didn't care, so I picked up a few colors when on a little gift yarn shopping spree. I decided that Hot Green, Swimming Pool, and White would be good for a couple different combinations. They are fun and happy colors, no?

What are your favorite dish cloth patterns?

I said I would never do it again...

Irishhat1 ...but I'm about to make some Christmas gifts. Oh, dear. I've decided to make some Irish Hiking Sets--scarf and hats. I decided to use some Lion Brand WoolEase so that they can be washed no problems. I know, I know, I can hear all you yarn snobs. But this stuff does have it's place in knitting life. It does.

So, anyway, here is hat #1. I'm hoping that I can speed through the hats and then get on to the scarves. I'm going to be very cryptic just so that those who this gift is for are still surprised if they read the blog! :-)

My right hand is a little frozen

Chichoodie4 It's getting to be that time of year. You know, when it's getting cooler, but you don't want to turn on the heat. So, you put on another sweater, blanket, and some socks. But what about the hands? I have some Fetching Gloves somewhere, but looking for them would take away from knitting or blogging time, and we can't have that, can we?

So, I've been trying to keep my hands moving to stay warm. The Chic Hoodie is moving along quite well. I am working on sleeve #1 after completing the body and pocket linings. I'm hoping that I can get this done rather quickly...I can't wait to wear it. But isn't that the case with everything I make?

I mentioned before that I wasn't sure what I was going to do about the sleeves, but I've decided that I am not going to do the lace down the sleeve. I've also been thinking that I can make this again, and put a cable down each side instead of lace....hmmmm......

Cult Knitology

ModeledCozyV

This weekend BFF and I went to some forest preserves to check out the beautiful changing leaves. Yeah, apparently, the leaves were not getting the memo that they needed to be changing....There were some pretty trees, but most were still green. But there were a lot of dropping leaves. Sigh.

Anyway, it was cool enough that I could wear my Cozy V-Neck sweater, so we did some pics of me modeling it. This was my favorite, but it is a little blurry. I'll have to go through the pics again and see if I like something better that is a little more in focus. I do have to say this is a really warm nice sweater. And every time BFF sees it he asks if I made it! Says it looks store bought...

In fact, BFF is sort of in awe of this whole little knitting community. He's trying to understand it all, but it's a little overwhleming. I showed him some blogs that I like and read, and he called it all "Cult Knitology". I thought it was kind of funny, but appropriate since we all do follow the trends, fashion, excitement of knitting quite closely....but without the Kool-aid!

Modeled knits

Modeledroot1 I am going to make a better effort to take some modeled pics of my knits. Since the weather was fantastic this last weekend, I decided to wear my Pink Modeledroot2 Rusted Root out. BFF was nice enough to take some pics for me. I'm actually going to try to get the Chic Hoodie done so that I can get some modeled pics of me in it with all the pretty Fall trees.

edited to add: I wanted to apologize for the picture of me in the creepy casket. I guess some people (Mom) weren't big fans, so here I am alive and in color!

Also, I just got an email today from my cousin about voting for the best haunted house in Illinois....even if you don't live in Illinois, your vote counts. So, if you want to take my word for it and believe it's the best, please vote! Here is the url: Vote for Dream Repaers in Melrose Park as the best Haunted House in Illinois!!!!

Fall is Fantastic!

Coffin It really is a great time of year. I think Fall gets a bad reputation because it's right after everyone's favorite - Summer. But the leaves change and make for beautiful scenery, the weather gets a little cooler so I can wear all my sweaters that I make, and my favorite--Halloween!

Halloween is between a $5-7 billion industry and it shows! I have always loved visiting haunted houses, and interestingly enough, my cousin puts on a fantastic show every year. I visited the Dream Reapers Haunted House in Melrose Park last night, and I screamed Chichoodie3 my lungs out. Here is a picture of me in a simulated movement casket. They closed me in, had a camera on me, and turned it on...I now know what happens when it gets put in the hearse and goes to the cemetery....what a fun night. I recommend heading over there if you are in the Chicagoland area. It's a scream!

And speaking of sweaters, I have been working on the Chic Hoodie on the train every day. I'm about 4" from the ribbing/pocket at this point. I'm getting excited about getting close to the end of this one so I can wear it!

Just a typical Sunday...

Bearssoxyoda Ok, maybe not that typical. There was a Bears and Sox game on in October, so that is very a-typical. Since the Sox were down 2 games in the series, we decided to pull out the magical bandanna that got us through the World Series a few years ago. But the Bears have been in need of some help from the magic bandanna, too. Thus, we have Yoda sporting two different team bandannas!! And believe it or not, it worked...

...though it didn't work tonight for the Sox. Chicago started out with two teams in baseball playoffs, and now we have none. Boo! Sad, but whatcha gonna do? I'm gonna watch football!
