And They're Off...

Labor Day weekend is here! I am so happy to have that extra day off this weekend, but it's going to be a wild and crazy weekend, nonetheless. I have a 30th Birthday Party, a wedding, and my grandmother's birthday...Not to mention all the other things going on in my life (more to come on that soon)... I don't know if I will survive the weekend! I do hope that I get a minute here and there to relax.

I worked on the Ribby Cardi a bit last night. I am passed the initial ribbing and working my way through the plain panel/body sections now. It's funny how small it looks, but I know that the ribbing is pulling a lot and that it will relax once it's done. I am starting to really like the color...very fall.

On another note, I was introduced to a new store called Lush. They have minimal packaging, natural/organic ingredients, and some interesting stuff. It's like the Body Shop only, um, less. Know what I mean? Well, I would recommend the Ocean Salt. It won't make the bottom of your tub a slick oily mess that attracts grime. I also like the Amazonian as a moisturizing bar. Be careful, though....you may end up looking like a greased pig. Don't ask how I know...

A man in a hot air balloon realized he was lost. He reduced altitude and spotted a woman below. He descended a bit more and shouted, "Excuse me, can you help me? I promised a friend I would meet him an hour ago but I don't know where I am."

The woman below replied, "You're in a hot air balloon hovering approximately 30 feet above the ground. You're between 40 and 41 degrees north latitude and between 59 and 60 degrees west longitude."

"You must be in Information Technology," said the balloonist.

"I am," replied the woman, "how did you know?"

"Well," answered the balloonist, "everything you told me is probably technically correct, but I've no idea what to make of your information and the fact is, I'm still lost. Frankly, you've not been much help at all. If anything, you've delayed my trip."

The woman below responded, "You must be in Management."

"I am," replied the balloonist, "but how did you know?"

"Well," said the woman, "you don't know where you are or where you're going. You have risen to where you are, due to a large quantity of hot air. You made a promise, which you've no idea how to keep, and you expect people
beneath you to solve your problems. The fact is you are in exactly the same position you were in before we met, but now, somehow, it's my bloody fault."

Fall is almost here!

I love fall. It's my favorite time of year...football, hot apple cider, sweaters(!), cuddling, pumpkins, the color orange is everywhere...There is one thing about autumn that I hate: allergies! Spingtime has nothing on fall when it comes to my allergies. And it really doesn't help that it's been very wet and hot, so mold production is on the rise!

I know, this is not the most appetizing post, but when I was busy sneezing my head off in the shower, I felt I needed to vent a little.

Back to our regularly scheduled knitting content....(sound of crickets)

Ok, I don't have regular knitting content! But I did finish another book. I just finished Brother Odd. I'm not sure if I liked it. I think I liked it better than the second book, but I don't think it was better than the first. Anyway, if you are looking for some pretty easy reading and an entertaining story, Odd's your man.

Next Project: Ark!

It's amazing how the weather is so unpredictable. Last year at this time trees and plants were dying everywhere because there was no rain. This year, we have more than enough rain! This weather is good for one thing -- sitting at home and knitting! I hope everyone is surviving in this horrible weather and has a good, productive weekend.

Beginning the Ribby Pulli

So, I cast on for the Ribby Pulli last night. I am almost done with the initial ribbing on the smaller needles. Then I move up to ribbing on bigger needles. Did I ever mention that I really dislike ribbing? But I will suffer through it because this is one super cute sweater.

The picture makes the yarn look a bit on the orange side, but it's really not. I promise. This is more of a heather red. I think it's the lighting and the white table. I need to figure out how to do a photo tent for better pictures.

Rusted Root Done!

This was actually a very quick project once I got my act together. I had some gauge issues and some use error, but I finally got it all worked out. I really like the way it turned out. I will probably wear this the way I have it pictured with a floral black and white skirt. I am really glad I went with the black. The lace makes it a bit more dressy, and with black it can be dressed up or down rather easily.

Too bad it's freezing in the office...I still think I will wear it, though. Gotta wear the new stuff, right?!

Throw her a bone

Yoda loves Dingo Bones. If you have a dog, you need to get him/her one right away...especially if you are looking for a good babysitter. This one Yoda received from her grandma. I think she likes it!

So, I got my invite to Ravelry. My screen name is aaswanson for anyone that wants to be my friend! I know, it's real original. I felt a little under pressure since I wasted to get in and start playing around! I have most of my stash up there and a couple projects, but I need to get working on the rest of my pages. Come on and visit me!

I told you I would...

...post some knitting. Here is Rusted Root about half done. Well, at least the body is half done. I find I am not knitting on it quite as much as I would like because of some things going on in my life right now. The last thing I need to be thinking about is what row of lace I am on or if I did a yarn over where I needed to. But looking at it like this really makes me want to finish it. I was thinking I might start something less complicated, but I do think I will stick with it for now.

Almost on Ravelry

Yes, I am slow to the party on this one. I didn't put my name on the Ravelry list until June! I know! But, I checked my status today and saw that I have 398 people ahead of me. So, I guess I better get my stash pictures taken, and all that stuff so I am ready.

I know I promised knitting pictures. It was on my list of things to do, but I didn't get there yet. I will...soon...I promise.
